Information Technology Architecture Support Services for Defense Research Laboratory

Electrosoft provided an experienced team of IT professionals to provide networking, server/desktop/database support, configuration management, help desk and information assurance to support a Defense Research Laboratory’s diverse IT infrastructure.

PROBLEM

The Laboratory sought Information Technology (IT) infrastructure multi-tier support for its virtual IT enterprise comprising multiple geographically dispersed sites and a variety of servers, workstations, applications, network devices, video teleconferencing systems and myriad connected devices. The Laboratory also needed high-end technical expertise to manage its innovative IT evaluation laboratory.

SOLUTION

Electrosoft’s experienced team of IT professionals provided network monitoring, server/desktop/database support, configuration management, Level II and III help desk services and information assurance to support the Laboratory’s diverse IT infrastructure. As the customer's IT infrastructure evolved in accordance with DoD policy and guidance, we updated IT enterprise policies and plans; performed test, evaluation and rollout of critical infrastructure updates; and performed research and analysis of innovative technologies. We developed multiple automated solutions for imaging and BIOS security enforcement that greatly improved the pace of infrastructure changes and enhancements. We also supported the video teleconferencing (VTC) capability across the enterprise. Our team analyzed problems and proactively researched, tested and evaluated available and emerging commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies to increase office automation and ease of use for enterprise users.

RESULTS/BENEFITS

Electrosoft completed a zero-impact transition from the previous incumbent contractor to sustain and support the Laboratory’s IT and VTC infrastructure operations. Our automation of various tasks led to a significant improvement in issue resolution. The Laboratory’s senior leadership regularly commend Electrosoft for the exceptional level of support we provide resolving issues and meeting user community needs. We have identified a number of leading-edge technologies and solutions to the Laboratory that are being validated for their potential to bring significant benefits to the associated research community including the ability to work securely from anywhere at any time, improved mobility and enhanced data sharing.
