Electrosoft designed and implemented an Enterprise Physical Access Control System (ePACS) solution to present a common workflow for access provisioning/de-provisioning for a Civilian Department’s inventory of physical facilities regardless of the specific vendor PACS installed locally.

PROBLEM

A Civilian Department sought an innovative ePACS solution that would make it possible to centrally manage, control and view access to its myriad U.S. facilities and limit access to authorized staff who possess Department-issued PIV (smart) cards. This Civilian Department used multiple PACS from a variety of vendors, creating a special challenge as the interfaces and functionality of these systems are proprietary to each vendor.  

SOLUTION

Electrosoft provided the systems engineering, architecture, development, deployment, testing, operations and maintenance, and training services necessary to implement a commercial off-the-shelf ePACS solution that integrates with local building access control units from multiple vendors. The solution is scalable, supporting more than 6,000 Department facilities. An easy-to-use dashboard provides drilldown visibility, management control and reporting of situational awareness of facility access.

RESULTS/BENEFITS

Electrosoft’s ePACS solution provides a common workflow for access provisioning/de-provisioning for all of the Department’s physical facilities regardless of the specific vendor PACS installed locally. Automation of many of the workflow steps leads to more efficient and less error-prone processing of access while significantly lowering costs. A role-based privilege model allows local facility managers to control access to the facility, and auditing and reporting functions enable early detection and management of risky access patterns.
