Electrosoft CEO Dr. Sarbari Gupta to Share PIV Innovation Case Study at Authenticate 2022 October 17, 2022

Electrosoft’s CEO, Dr. Sarbari Gupta, will share a presentation at Authenticate 2022, “the first conference dedicated to the who, what, why and how of user authentication – with a focus on the FIDO standards-based approach.” FIDO, or Fast IDentity Online, is an authentication standard that defines a fast and secure authentication mechanism for individuals to access websites and web-based applications. The annual event will take place at the Sheraton Grand in Seattle, Washington and virtually on October 17-19, 2022.

“Creating solutions and best practices for modern authentication systems is an important initiative for the federal government,” said Dr. Gupta. “I’m pleased to present how one agency is using an effective enterprise authentication innovation.”

Dr. Gupta’s on-demand case study will feature a federal agency that implemented an enterprise-wide strong identity authentication solution based on personal identity verification (PIV) that does not require Microsoft’s Active Directory.

EVENT: Authenticate 2022

WHEN: October 17 – 19, 2022

PRESENTATION TITLE: Case Study: Enterprise PIV-authentication sans Active Directory!

SESSION TYPE: On-demand

DESCRIPTION: Executive Order 14028, “Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity,” spearheaded a government-wide effort to ensure that baseline security practices were in place, including multifactor authentication (MFA), to access government information systems and information. This case study describes the innovative, cost-effective and scalable solution adopted by a federal micro-agency (with fewer than 100 active users). The agency implemented Personal Identity Verification (PIV)-based strong identity authentication for all agency workstations – without the need to instantiate a Microsoft Active Directory environment. The solution enabled the agency to continue its journey to embrace cloud-based systems and services while reducing its IT administration costs and security authorization burden. The solution also moved the agency towards a zero-trust architecture while strengthening the agency’s remote work environment.
